CONT

Apprentice plumbers assist with all regular duties of the job, and their supervisors ... take the time to teach them and pass on valuable information. Generally, apprentices are responsible for things like bringing tools to a job site, supplying materials, cleaning up, and other duties which make their co-workers' jobs easier in exchange for the education and training they receive. Apprentice plumbers learn a range of new skills and are provided opportunities to apply them under the watchful eyes of other plumbers. Supervisors watch and critique apprentices' work and offer advice and ways to improve; as the apprentices improve, they are given more and more tasks and learn new skills such as how to replace pipes, change fittings, identify and locate leaks, and so on.
